My rewatch of Series 1 has intensified my obsession with this show. Thinking about it and compiling this list has been pacifying me while I count down to Series 2 which starts tomorrow!
A few of the many things I love:
Britt Lower
Britt Lower's fringe
The Melon Bar
The Egg Party
The Waffle Party
Ricken's "spiritual biography", The You You Are. Some choice lines:
“What is it to fail? My failure to break into the literary world in my 20's was devastating, yet it taught me a valuable lesson. That it was not me who was wrong, but literature itself, and that to truly find my place in that world, I would first need to break it entirely. And so I did.”
“What separates man from machine is that machines cannot think for themselves. Also they are made of metal, whereas man is made of skin.”
“Bullies are nothing but BULL and LIES.”
Everything Ricken says and how Devon humours him
The rapport between Mark and Devon
Devon. I'm a sucker for a sarcastic but loving sister
How funny the show is when it's also menacing and absolutely terrifying
The name Rebeck
The perfect casting
Patricia Arquette
Mr Milchick
John Turturro's voice
Dylan saying: "Exactly how the wet fuck do you know where this office is?"
Irving B's wellness session with Ms Casey (“Try to enjoy each equally”)
“Your outie is a friend to children, and to the elderly, and to the insane”
“Your outie is splendid and can swim gracefully and well”
“Your outie values water”
The kooky, retro aesthetic of the Lumon offices
The Compunction Statement
The title sequence:
The music (see above)
When Mark is leaving a tense exchange in Ms Cobel's office and he asks her if he should leave her door open or closed and she says, "Both".
The "overtime contingency"
The moment in Dylan's wardrobe when Milchick deploys the overtime contingency
The unbearable tension of the final episode
The rare achievement of executing a high concept idea perfectly

This week I’ve been listening to the companion podcast:
What are you favourite things about Severance? If you haven’t watched it, just make something up.
See you next time!
Hannah
I haven’t watched it (yet) but the scary element: is it horror movie scary or too close to home scary, especially if you work in a corporation?
Amazing. You nailed it. I now have to go back to season 1 and remind myself what the overtime contingency is! Great idea to re watch the season. I found episode 1 quite challenging because so long had elapsed.
